This post is sponsored by the American Heart Association. All opinions are my own.
The Macy’s on State Street in Chicago is like my own Tiffany’s if I was Audrey Hepburn. Even as a kid, I remember looking around the store and being in awe of the high ceilings, intricate design work and the best shoe sales in the city. If you’ve been missing out on this secret, make sure you check BOTH of the shoe sale sections. Just ask for help if you only see one. I may have just changed your life.
And I have even more life changing news. This upcoming weekend, the American Heart Association and Macy’s are teaming up to help you get your heart pumping with workouts led by fitness experts, share the season’s hottest workout gear, and host interactive booths for tips to improve your health. Celebrity trainers Ary Nunez, Lita Lewis and Ashanti Johnson will be leading the exercise classes, there will be heart-healthy cooking demos by chef Brian Alston and tips on how to lead a healthier lifestyle. Illinois Heart Rescue will also be on hand to teach hands-only CPR.
I’ve written about the importance of a healthy heart before and the risks, especially among women of color, of heart disease. As a Latina woman, I try to be very conscious about what I’m eating, how often I exercise, and how I can improve my health. If you’re just getting started on your journey to better health, or if you’re an expert on heart health, this event will benefit you. And we can finally meet up and take an Instagram selfie 🙂
Register for the event here. The first 200 people who check into the event get a swag bag with a pedometer, water bottle and towel (and other surprises). There’s also a chance to win Macy’s gift cards, but be sure to get there early!
