Walmart ‘Fresh Crew’ Produce Tour and Giveaway

As a participant in the ‘Fresh Crew’ sponsored by Walmart, I was able to tour my local Neighborhood Market and talk with the manager about the growing availability of affordable, high-quality frutas y verduras. I also had the opportunity to talk with them about their new 100 percent freshness guarantee.

Beautiful day for a walk to the grocery store!

In Arizona, I was always tossing out produce I had bought just days before. I asked the professionals about why this happens and it has to do with the way the produce is handled from the fields to the store. Walmart works directly with produce farmers to eliminate the middle-man to reduce the number of days from field to store so your produce is as fresh as possible wherever you are.

If you’re not 100% happy, bring back your receipt. No questions asked!

Walmart has also launched Fresh Produce Schools for their employees and 70,000 associates have been trained to identify the best quality produce. The Neighborhood Market Walmart on Monroe Street in Chicago is taking extra efforts to extend the shelf life by chilling a lot of their produce so when you bring home delicate items como lechuga, it’s not wilting. If you’re not happy with the quality, you can bring back your receipt to any Walmart store for a full refund. No questions asked and no need to bring back the produce!

Be on the lookout for this at your local Walmart.

They are also a pilot store for a time-saving weighing system. You can weigh your produce and print a label so when you get up to the front there’s no price check and weigh-in to hold up the line. Kind of cool!

In addition to all their extra efforts, they still offer low price, high quality foods.

I spent under $17 and was able to get 3 kiwis, 4 limes, a package of tomatoes, 1 avocado, 2 pieces of sweet corn, a bundle of asparagus, two nectarines, a package of strawberries, 5 bananas, a package of blueberries and a bunch of cilantro! I could absolutely get used to a grocery bill like this.

  2. Good for Wallie for raising their standards. I especially like their commitment to buying local produce wherever possible.
